What is a water softener used for?

A water softener is a piece of equipment that removes limescale from water. Unlike reverse osmosis devices, it does not remove salts, bacteria, viruses and other elements that may be present in water, only limescale. Here are just a few of the benefits of installing a water softener in your home:

Maintenance

 

1. HOW TO REFILL SALT?
  1. When the softener regenerates, it consumes salt. When the internal quantity is less than 30 % of the maximum quantity, the salt reminder icon lights up, prompting the user to add salt. You'll also be notified via the app.
  2. Once salt has been added, the machine can automatically detect the amount of salt in the salt container and update the salt value in the salt display area below the stand-by page.

 

Please note:

  1. Be sure to use a type of salt that complies with EN973 Type A.
  2. Maximum salt dosage :
  • 9L = 20 kg
  • 18L = 50 kg
  • 27L = 70 kg.
  1. The amount of salt is detected and filtered in real time, then updated on the display, which will be progressively updated until the final value is reached.
  2. After adding salt, make sure there are no obstacles (including water) between the salt level sensor and the salt block, to avoid inaccurate salt detection and inconsistency between the displayed value and reality.
  3. Be sure to add salt evenly, and try to keep the salt level at different positions in the salt bucket as flat as possible to avoid large salt detection errors.

 

 

2. WHEN AND HOW TO CARRY OUT MAINTENANCE?

The Harmony app will alert you when maintenance is required. As a general rule, you should expect to need servicing once a year.

To guarantee the quality of the water produced, it is important to call on a professional who will :

  1. Cleaning the salt container in the event of crust formation or "salt bridges
  2. Disinfect the softener
  3. Check the resin (and cleaning with a regenerating product if necessary)
  4. Check valve and general operations

OPTION 1: TAPS

Find out more about the faucet choices included in your osmosis plant order.

  • 1-way valve

The 1-way valve is specifically for osmosis water. It comes in addition to the existing mixer tap. You'll need to drill a hole in your sink or worktop to install it. 

  • 3-way valve

The 3-way valve means you don't have to drill an extra hole to install a second valve. It gives you hot, cold and reverse osmosis water from a single tap.
