1. General questions about reverse osmosis

A osmosis plant (reverse osmosis system) is a water filtration device which removes impurities, contaminants and dissolved minerals by forcing water through a semi-permeable membrane. It provides pure, fresh water for eating and cooking.

To find out more, read our article " basic principles of reverse osmosis "

✔ Eliminate up to 99 % of contaminants (chlorine, heavy metals, pesticides, bacteria, etc.)
✔ To improve taste and smell water
✔ To reduce limescale deposits in household appliances
✔ To produce a high-quality drinking water at home

To find out more, read our article " basic principles of reverse osmosis "

A osmosis plant eliminates impurities, heavy metals and bacteria of water, while a water softener mainly reduces calcium and magnesium to prevent limescale deposits. For a complete water treatmentit is possible to combine the two systems.

An ultrafilter removes contaminants down to 0.01 microns. This guarantees the elimination of sediment, bacteria and other impurities up to a certain point. Heavy metals, nitrates and certain chemicals (including PFAS) are not filtered out. An osmosis unit removes up to 0.0001 microns, guaranteeing contaminant removal of up to 99%.

2. Choosing the right osmosis plant

Consider the following criteria:

  • What is the initial quality of the water I want to filter?
  • Direct-flow or tank Osmosis?
  • Number of filtration steps?
  • Is it difficult to maintain?
  • How much water does my reverse osmosis unit discharge?
  • What is the total cost of my reverse osmosis unit?

To find out more, read our article " 6 questions to choose the ideal osmosis plant "

A ecological osmosis is a system designed for reduce water wastage during filtration. Conventional reverse osmosis systems can reject up to 4 liters of water for each liter filteredwhile ecological models have better performanceto limit water consumption.

3. Installation and maintenance

No! osmosis systems Aquacycle.eu are selected for a easy, self-contained installationplug and play. Our osmosis units come with a installation guide and a accompanying video. If you encounter any problems, our technical service is at your disposal to help you remotely.

Replacement frequency depends on water quality and usage:

  • Pre-filters (sediment & activated carbon) : all 6 to 12 months
  • Reverse osmosis membrane : all 2 to 3 years
  • Post-filters (activated carbon or remineralization) : all 12 months

Lack of maintenance can lead to :

  • A lower water quality
  • A slower flow
  • A possible bacterial contamination

Regular maintenance includes :

Flushing the system every few months
Filter replacement according to the recommended schedule
Annual disinfection tank
✔ Verification of leaks or pressure problems

4.water quality and performance

Use a hardness test kit Aquacycle.eu or consult the information provided by your local water supplier (easily found on the Internet). If your water is very hard, a water softener may be required in conjunction with an osmosis unit.

Yes! reverse osmosis membranes effectively remove fluorine, chlorine and other contaminants, providing water safer and better tasting.

  • Clogged filters (replacement required)
  • Low water pressure (below 40 psi)
  • Spent reverse osmosis membrane (to be replaced)

Absolutely! Osmosis water improves taste coffee, tea and dishes by removing impurities.
