Is osmosis water too pure?

What is pure water?

The first parameter to check on water is its dry residue content. Dry residue, or TDS (Total Dissolved Solids), expresses the solid particles collected after the water has evaporated at 180°. Dry residue is expressed in PPM (parts per million) or mg/litre.

Curious to test your water? The technology is very easy to use. Just stick the Aquacycle.eu TDS meter in your water and get a reading.

TDS must be less than 100 mg/l. Perfectly between 10 and 60 mg/l.

Why does my water need to be pure?

Water with a TDS between 10 and 60 mg/l is considered healthier for several reasons:

1. Fewer contaminants

A low TDS content generally means that the water contains fewer harmful substances, such as :

  • Heavy metals such as lead, mercury or arsenic, which can accumulate in the body and cause toxicity.
  • Industrial pollutants such as nitrates, fluorides and pesticides, which can present long-term health risks.
  • Salts which contribute to water hardness and can cause kidney stress or problems such as hypertension if consumed in excess.

2. Less stress on the kidneys

With low TDS, the kidneys don't have to work as hard to eliminate excess salts or contaminants. Thanks to the very principle of osmosis, contaminants in our blood (high TDS) are more easily transferred to the pure water we ingest (low TDS). This reduces the risk of kidney stones and other problems associated with mineral build-up.

3. Promotes detoxification

Low-TDS water, such as purified or distilled water, has a greater capacity to absorb and eliminate toxins from the body. It acts like a "blank slate", helping your body's natural detoxification processes to work more efficiently.

4. Better hydration

Low TDS water often has a neutral taste, making it more pleasant to drink in large quantities. Adequate hydration is essential for bodily functions such as digestion, temperature regulation and nutrient absorption.

5. Reduced risk of over-mineralization

While some minerals are essential for good health, excessive consumption of minerals from high-TDS water can lead to :

  • Mineral deposits in joints, tissues or organs over the long term.
  • Electrolyte imbalanceswhich can affect blood pressure, heart health or metabolic functions.

Does reverse osmosis reduce essential minerals in water?

Visit realityThe minerals (calcium, magnesium, potassium and rare elements) contained in water can only be assimilated in very small quantities.

This doesn't mean we can't assimilate them, but their molecular structure doesn't correspond to that of a human food. The nutritional power of an element depends above all on its molecular structure. This is known as "bioavailability".

There are organizations autotrophic (plants) and organisms heterotrophic (animals).
Heterotrophs, including us humans, build up their own organic matter, feeding only on pre-existing organic matter. Conversely, autotrophic organisms make their own organic matter from mineral matter.

If we simplify things, we have to use plants to absorb "bioavailable" minerals..

Water should be seen above all as an essential element for purifying the body and ensuring optimum hydration, rather than as a direct source of nutrients in the strict sense of the term. Water that is too rich in minerals can overload the body, leading to stones and thrombosis. Water's main role is not to provide its own nutrients, but to transport those from the diet to the heart of the cells, hydrate them and facilitate the elimination of waste products.

Following reverse osmosis filtration, Aquacyle.eu offers a remineralization cartridge loaded with essential, bioavailable minerals for pure, balanced water.

What are the benefits of pure, balanced water?

  • Hydration up to 4x faster.
  • Improved endurance and reduced recovery time during intense exercise.
  • Better absorption of nutrients.
  • Optimize the elimination of intracellular and toxic waste from the body.
