The recent RTL<\/a>The report on PFAS (AKA eternal pollutants) pollution in Wallonia, subsequently relayed by RTBF, reveals a worrying reality: almost half the residents tested in Chi\u00e8vres, Ronqui\u00e8res, Nandrin and Florennes had blood concentrations above the thresholds considered hazardous to health. These data are not just abstract figures: they point to an environmental problem that has become a potential health crisis.<\/span><\/p>\n

PFAS are recognized for their use in stain- and fire-resistant coatings, and above all for their persistence in ecosystems and organisms (rtl.be).<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The higher concentration in older people reveals progressive bioaccumulation. We can deduce that this population has been exposed for some time, and that we are only now becoming aware of it.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/span><\/div>\n

Individual blood results have been communicated - an essential gesture - but this is not enough if practical solutions do not follow. This raises a real question of awareness and responsibility.<\/span><\/p>\n

Are we now in a position, with the little hindsight we have, to understand the extent of the problem and its potential impact on health? What's particularly worrying is the evidence suggesting that tap water is a likely source of contamination (rtbf.be).<\/span><\/p>\n

What's certain is that this finding is just one of many that highlight the need to move from reaction to prevention. Admittedly, the authorities are recommending stricter monitoring. But for citizens, every drop of water must be a guarantee, not an anticipated risk.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
